Is the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) Right for You?

Author: Dr. Rielly Keyser, DrPH

If your nonprofit serves a community at risk of hate crimes or terrorist threats, the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) could provide the support you need to keep your people and property safe.

Offered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, NSGP provides up to $150,000 per site to enhance physical security, including:

  • Surveillance cameras and fencing

  • Access control systems

  • Security personnel

  • Emergency response plans and training

To apply, you must:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit

  • Be at high risk of a terrorist attack due to ideology, mission, or demographics

  • Submit an Investment Justification and vulnerability assessment

This application is highly competitive, and requires coordination with your State Administrative Agency (SAA). Our team at The Grant Writing Firm can handle it all—from assessments to submission.
