Farm to School Grants—Growing Healthy Kids and Local Economies

Author: Dr. Rielly Keyser, DrPH

The USDA Farm to School Grant Program supports projects that bring local food into school cafeterias and help students understand where their food comes from.

Funding ranges from $50,000–$500,000, and can support:

  • School gardens and ag education

  • Nutrition-based curriculum

  • Local food procurement

  • Staff training and farm field trips

Schools, nonprofits, tribal organizations, and local agencies are all eligible. Funders are especially interested in equity-focused initiatives and projects in underserved communities.

Whether you’re just getting started or expanding a farm-to-school initiative, The Grant Writing Firm can help design a competitive proposal.
