Drug-Free Communities Grant: A Lifeline for Youth Prevention Programs

Author: Dr. Rielly Keyser, DrPH

The Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program is the nation’s leading prevention grant for youth substance misuse.

Administered by the CDC and ONDCP, this grant provides up to $125,000 annually for five years to community-based coalitions working to prevent youth drug and alcohol use.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a coalition of at least 12 sectors (e.g., schools, parents, law enforcement, youth)

  • Show evidence of community-level change

  • Demonstrate capacity for data collection and sustainability

DFC is highly competitive, and applications must follow strict formatting and coalition structure guidelines. We help you align with federal expectations and tell your coalition’s story effectively.
